Moved

How many times have you moved in 12 years?

Most people may say none or just one time. I have moved 6 times in 12 years. Why? Because I had to. However, this last move from Towson, Maryland, from the Towson Town Place Apartments Homes to The Berkeligh was one of my best moves. Everything went as planned with the move.

Mid Atlanitc Van Lines, Inc. came on time. They finished on time. It was not cheap, but the piece of mind that everything was intact and no additional cost was worth it.

When I moved from Houston, Texas, from Parc At South Green to Maryland in 2019, I lived with two different families before I could afford my apartment. Yes, I was homeless.

Why did you leave Texas to be homeless? I was told by Sam's Cub to be in Maryland in January 2020 to start my job as a Salaried Member of Management. However, the onboarding process took until March. I had no official offer letter until March. Therefore, I was able to obtain housing then. After getting my official offer letter, I moved into The View at Mill Run in Owings Mills, Maryland. I loved my apartment. It had everything I wanted except hardwood floors. But at Covid, I lost the job I moved across the country and back home for. I had to move again.

I moved to Towson Town Place Apartments Homes. That was the worst move. Everything that could go wrong did. I said to myself not again.

This time around, I spent more money so that I could ensure a better outcome. I gave up some of the desires I wanted in an apartment. I looked at over 20 different apartment buildings. My favorite I could not afford. Marlow in Columbia, Maryland. That property is outstanding. You must go and visit it. State-of-the-art technology with keyless entry, the amenities like hotel-style living, private rooms for those who telework, reasonable parking, and a great community. It is a must-see.

The second apartment complex I liked in Towson, Maryland, is The Quarters at Towson Town Center. When I went to apply, the application would not work. I could have saved $1,700 on my first-month rent. The management company of this property spends resources on the buildings and ensuring the tenants are taken care of. I was nervous about not having a leasing agent in-house and taking a tour by signing up through ap. But became comfortable with it. The individuals in their offices are strictly there for the tenants. Leasing is done all virtually. The downfall to that is when technology does not work. In which my case, that is what happened.

I moved into The Berkleigh in Middle River, Maryland, in Baltimore County. The application process went smoothly. I applied online and received an answer that day. I believe it was before I even left home for work. I downsize to a one-bedroom apartment because I felt most comfortable affording that. The leasing professionals are outstanding. If I had questions, they were answered. There were no move-in specials. However, the property is managed well. So far, the other tenants are pleasant. I have garage parking. I like my unit. I like the conference room, pool, and other amenities. I like that it is within walking distance of some stores.

However, my favorite grocery store is still a ways away, Wegmans. The Columbia apartment was the only one I would have been close to, Wegmans. So I was not too unhappy.

How much money have I spent on moving in 4 years? $8,000!

This last move within two years of my last was the most costly. I spent close to $5,000 within a month. Why? Purchasing packing supplies from Uhaul, Moving company, security deposit, first-month rent, rent at my old apartment, utilities at the old apartment, and parking cost, and that does not include time off from work for the move.

Moving is costly. I pray that if I move again, it will be my forever home. I can write a book on moving, what to look for, and why? One day. But today, I am letting you know I have moved.

I moved. I moved my business. Triumphant Athletic Agency, Confronting Goliath Podcast,  and Ms. Tabu Winslow Morris are now in Middle River, Maryland, in Baltimore County
