As we are getting ready for the start of a new academic school year and a new 5-year grant cycle, the faculty and staff of
Upward Bound CCBC Catonsville want to wish our scholars a successful new academic calendar year. Our scholars had a fun-packed, culturally packed, and academically packed Summer Academy. We wish our graduates off to college with the Summer Bridge Academy.
Took our first overnight college tour to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, before #Covid. We visited Annapolis, Maryland. President of CCBC, Dr. Sandra L. Kurtinitis, presented as a #firstgeneration scholar herself. Many other guest presenters give us some added wisdom and knowledge about careers, transitioning to college, driving, and so much more.
Most importantly, we laughed, had fun, ate, and welcomed new scholars to join our Upward Bound family.
Now, as we embark on a journey towards the 2022-2023 academic calendar year, we are hopeful that our scholars will use all the skills they have gained over this summer to succeed. We can't wait for our rising seniors at their "Senior Announcement Day" to share where their next journey to post-secondary education will be. As a team of educators, we look forward to seeing our scholars blossom.
We wish our part-time educators (Dr. Kayra Alvarado, Richard Gray, Daniel Lindsey, Kerry Martin, Sharon Petty, Professor Charles Shimonkevitz, Chanelle Thomas, and Andrea Wilson) a successful and safe school year, too. These dedicated faculty give up their summer to teach during our summer academy and Saturdays during the academic school year. Thank you!
One more year to show how #trioworks!
