Some individuals believe it is awesome being a Best Man at all of their friends and families weddings. But, I beg to differ with that statement. Why? Because the Groom gets to go home with his bride.
As I prepared my dinner to eat before game time started, I really had no idea who would win. I listened to Fox Sports as they delivered the highlights. I listened to the differences between the teams and coaching staffs. I thought to myself will I be able to stay awake to see the entire game. Maybe or maybe not. But one thing for sure it will be a winning team at the end of the game.
I enjoyed seeing the great athletes and coaches being honored as a part of the 💯 year celebration. I thought what a honor. But the day is still about this year's game and this year's winner.
Guest what? Today Coach Andy Reid got to take his bride back to Kansas City with the rest of the team, The Kansas City Chiefs. The covenant trophy, Lombardi Trophy. It is interesting that the trophy is named after a coach.
A great coach!
Being a former educator, my last assignment in the Education field in 2018 was in a all boys school in Houston, Texas. It taught me a lot about helping to develop young men's talent. My 8th grade rambunctious boys challenged me every day in our classroom to make me a better teacher. I challenge them every day to be better educated young men.
At the end of the year my class had the highest percentage of students in our 8th grade class in our school to past the standardize State test. I was a proud Bride that day because I was no longer a bridesmaid. I did what I was asked to do by the admistration and their former teacher who had to exit the year early to have her beautiful baby.
I had to stand in the gap.
I had to figure out away for my 8th graders to excel.
We had to win.
They had to win!
Honestly!
Fair!
That is what Coach Reid must do every year as a Coach, Mentor, and Educator in the sports arena. He must find a way to win fair and honest with the team he helped developed. Maybe, they will be blessed to be one of the great teams to make it to the Superbowl.
Today, Coach Reid must feel some kind of special. He has so many years of pushing others forward. He has to develop his athletes to greatness irregardless of them being rookies or seasoned without much as a pat on the back. He has many years of developing other coaches who became a Groom faster then himself.
But, that is what great leaders do!
They develop the talent around them unselfishless. They never think about themselves it is always about what is the next task or goal for the team or organization.
But my Holy Bible states,
"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not" Galatians 6:9 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Galatians6:9&version=KJV.
Well, Coach Reid you have not fainted. You have been unselfish and celebrated with many you have mentored and coached.
Today is your day!
Congratulations on your team's success in winning that covenant trophy and becoming Superbowl LIV Grooms!
When you work hard you get to party hard.
Enjoy the party! Enjoy the moment! You are such an awesome team!
What a team?!
Who? Chiefs!
The Kansas City Chiefs!
I pray that you spend some time enjoying just being a Groom and enjoying your Bride with your family and community in Kansas City before getting ready and prepared for your next year's group of athletes and coaches that has been assigned to you to mentor and push to greatness.
The Superbowl is about the great verses the great.
And may the best team win.
You're the Best!
Congratulations once again Coach Reid on being Superbowl LIV winner along with your team and community!
