IS IT TIME, YET?!

GOLDEN NUGGET
The Government had some parts of it shut
down on December 22, 2018, per CNN Politics online article written
January 22, 2019. My last Golden Nugget on the Government Shut Down, I mention
some furlough workers should qualify for unemployment benefits. However, if you
are working without pay you probably will not qualify for those benefits. That
is why it is becoming a hardship for those individuals to continue to serve
without compensation.
Why is that? Because when you file for
unemployment benefits you must report all hours worked and what the
estimated amount for that week’s paycheck even if you have
not received your compensation yet. That means you may not receive payment
for the amount reported that week from unemployment benefits.
WOW! Yes, wow.

Maybe, it is time for unemployment
benefits payouts to be changed on when your payment is received. For instance,
if you report hours worked and the amount it should not be considered a deduction
of payment for that week’s unemployment benefits until you receive your compensation.
Your week’s payment paid on actual money received but earned. If that was how
it was being done today all those Federal Employees that are at work would be receiving
their unemployment benefits.
Who sets the rules?
The U.S. Department of Labor governs unemployment benefit payouts however Congress votes on the laws that govern the statutes for unemployment benefits. I am unsure if the U.S. Department of Labor have the authority to change if compensations can be deducted according to received dollars instead of when earned. If not, maybe, Congress could agree on changing when payouts are granted upon compensation of funds received instead of dates of pay earned. That would save some of the hardship problems for some of our Public Servants on the Federal level that are working without pay and have not received any Shut Down loans from financial institutions.

In addition, President Trump could put
an Executive Order that requires all members of Congress and their staffs to
also share in the burden of not receiving their pay whenever there is a
stalemate on the budget that causes a furlough or Government employees to work
without pay. If they are carrying some of the burden, I believe, our Congress Members
would be willing to put partisan politics aside for the good of Democracy. I
believe they would come to the table and negotiate instead of digging their
heels in the sand.
Because until you have gone without
food. Gone without housing. Seen your furniture sitting on the curve. Seen your
child eyes when you say, "I have no money for food." Had that heated argument with
your spouse over money not paid due to your work. Not been able to meet your financial
obligations not due to your own doing but someone else’s. You really do not
know how it feels.
This would be the time for creditors to grant extensions or work with their debtors. But they too must pay their bills. It is a ripple effect. How long can America carry the burden of partisan politics? How long? I am unsure.

However, I can tell you I know how it feels. I feel your pain
civil servants. I understand! And I care! Do they?!
Until the next Golden Nugget, you have a
bless day. Thank you!
